- Course moderators: UNEP/AIT/UNU-IAS/IGES/University of Peridenya/SACEP and international experts on SCP
- Program: Intensive full time, in person training for up to 35 students with residence
- Duration: 2 weeks full-time
- Participants: on a competitive basis, 30-35 participants, junior government professionals and private sector professionals or development consultants (up to 5 years of experience); Doctoral or Master students.
- Evaluation: Participants have rated the course as “excellent”, which is the highest rating, at 4.7/5 in terms of “Usefulness and applicability of the UN Winter School’s content for your functions within your organization”
- Objective: « Improve the knowledge of future decision makers in the area of Sustainable Consumption and Production and thus contribute to the design and implementation of policies, business models and practices that can promote sustainable resource management in a life cycle perspective for goods and services produced and used by governments, business and civil society ».
- Learning outcomes:
- understand SCP and resource efficiency in relation to sustainable development, poverty alleviation and sustainable livelihoods,
- engage with alternative policy instruments, strategy options and institutional arrangements (including networks) for achieving resource efficiency and benefits,
- Develop analytical, advocacy and implementation capabilities and skills,
- Gain a better understanding and appreciation of the different perspectives and interests of various stakeholders related to resource efficiency and its development, climate and environmental benefits.
